Every year, design industry heavyweights come together to judge the Caesarstone Student Designer Competition entries. We are thrilled to welcome our 2019 panel, who are ready to tackle the difficult task of finding the official winner.
Introducing: Stefan Antoni, Michele Rhoda, Juliet Kavishe, Jonathan Anstey and Dorothy van’t Riet.
As this year’s author of the competition brief, we are thrilled to welcome Michele Rhoda onto our judging panel. As a Director of renowned architectural firm ARRCC, Michele is known for creating beauty and balance in interior architecture. Maintaining a sensitivity toward the context and environment of her projects, it is her consistent focus on human connection that has elevated her design reputation in the industry.
Regarded as one of the architects who have contributed to setting a new standard of design and professionalism in South Africa, Stefan Antoni, is creatively brilliant, outlandishly bold and prolific. He is today, without doubt, one of the most formidable and most decorated architects that South Africa has produced in recent times. Together with his partners and colleagues at SAOTA, he has continued to stretch the boundaries of creative home design for the most discerning of clients, both locally and internationally.
Welcoming a fresh face to our judging panel, Juliet Kavishe is the Head of Interior Architecture at Inkspired Architects, with an extensive background in green design. Founded in 2010, Inkspired Architects is an architectural firm that has a specific focus on the demands and opportunities presented in emerging markets. Juliet is also a Johannesburg Ambassador for the African Institute of the Design Profession (IID) and an Interior Design moderator for the Independent Institute of Education (IIE).
Internationally renowned interior design guru, Dorothy van’t Riet is the founder and principal designer at DVR Design & Decor Consultants in South Africa. Her bold and creative signature style sees her using colour, timeless beauty and individualism to create spaces with life, soul and energy. Dorothy has steered the company from a modest start working with individual clients to a position of strength in the competitive global design industry.

Drawing inspiration from nature and focused on creating memorable moments , Jonathan encourages students that ‘Unique and inspired design can only be achieved through closing your eyes to trend, your ears to fashion and your heart to fear.’
